Warning: this is a really politically wrong post!
5 Things I Won't Talk About in 2007:
1 - Racism
It seems we (Latinos/as) tend to see racism everywhere. I know, it's a harsh and cruel world... but I have enough problems without getting pissed off about The Pirates of The Caribbean II. I know, "It's not JUST a movie"... but I'm sick and tired of seeing everything trough racism. You may agree or disagree, like it or not, but I do not define my self by fighting against racism.
2 - "What Are You?"
This obnoxious question is ridiculous. I'm done with it. I'm a human being. Period.
3 - Politics
I hate politics. I don't believe in politics nor politicians. Luckily for me, there are enough blogs about Latin politic-related issues, so I don't have to talk about it.
4 - Crime
People love to talk about crime. The more horrifying, the better. I don't have stomach for that. Crime stories and details don't add anything to my life, beside sadness, so... I don't wanna know!
5 - Feminism
I'm not a feminist. I don't agree with feminist thinking. I believe men and women deserve equal rights, but we are not the same. I love being a woman, and I don't want to be a man. I treasure every little feminine attribute I have, and I'm not limited by what society says I'm supposed to do nor be. I'm a free woman, who works, speaks her mind and do what she wants; but who also likes cooking, housekeeping and taking good care of her husband.
To finish, a phrase that's widely attributed to Voltaire, but cannot be found in his writings:
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
