Alejandro Sanz Will Follow Shakira's Steps

Shakira's Spanish pal, Alejandro Sanz, will follow her steps, and give the "crossover move" a try. His first English album will pay tribute to rock idols as Pink Floyd, Prince and Jimi Hendrix.

"Perhaps it is not what the company is expecting, but it is what my body is asking for and I am very strict with that. When the muse comes … ," Sanz told The Associated Press in an interview.

Sanz has worked with Shakira on "La tortura" ("The Torture") and "Te lo agradezco, pero no" ("Thank you, But No"). "La Tortura" won four awards, including hot Latin song of the year, at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2006. Sanz won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album in 2003 for "No es lo mismo" (which, to be honest, I hated – the entire album was a big disappointment to me).

Alejandro said the English album won't be released for at least a year. He wants to keep his public's attention (and purchases) focused on his latest album, "El tren de los momentos" (The train of the moments). Sanz, who is now touring the U.S. and Mexico, plans to invite Beyonce and alicia keys to collaborate on several songs for the new album.

Will he record another big hit with Shakira? Sanz says: "She is the boss … When she wants to come back and collaborate, I will be there."

Of course. Is he smart or what?

You can see the scheduled cities and dates of the "El Tren de los Momentos Tour" at the Alejandro Sanz official website.
