Barbie Store in Buenos Aires

As you already know, I don't like barbie dolls. Barbies sell a harmful role model to young girls, and it has a stereotypical vision of Latinas. Now, we have a Barbie Store in Buenos Aires, "the only place in the world where the girls dream of looking like the doll can become true."
Yes, that's right: now they are selling the possibility of actually transform little girls in a Barbie. How nice.
"Barbie Store is a place where the babies feel like grown ups and the mothers return to their childhood", said Tito Loizeau, one of the store's owners.

The Barbie Store is located in the elegant district of Palermo, and it's divided in 4 sections: the store, where you can buy accessories and exclusive clothing for children between 2 and 12 years old; plus mini clothing to dress Barbie exactly as her owners. The other sections are a hairdressing salon, a tea house and "Barbie's House", a life-size version of Barbie's home.
The clothing line has attracted even 16 years old teenagers, and the company is thinking about an adult clothing line. More branches are planned for South America.
This hole project gives me the creeps.

This is amazing and unfortunate. We have enough problems fighting Bulimia and Anorexia in our world. Now we have young girls and their mothers trying to look like the unproportionate Barbie. Is there no end to what advertising dictators will have us do, beleive, and follow? And is there no end to how much we will let them get away with. I think women should let go of what media and advertisers say we should look like and instead accept ourselves as the beautiful females that we are just like we are. http://www.susanorosco.com

Now it’s official… Buenos Aires has a little of EVERYTHING.
Our favorite store in BsAs is the famous leather store… we had custom leather jackets made there for less than $125/each.
