Chinese New Year in São Paulo
Filed in archive Latin Blogs , Latin Culture on February 15, 2007
From Ricardo's Blog:
"Chinese communities all around Latin America are now about to celebrate the chinese new year, which will take place on February 18th.
This year is the year of the Pig. The celebrations in São Paulo take place in the Japanese district of Liberdade, as the Japanese community here is much larger than the Chinese. This is the second year in which they run a festival that starts a week before the actual celebration. The festival attracts many people to the colors, products, food and culture of China. Many of the local associations participate. I had a chance to visit the festival this weekend and it was a very good experience. If you are in São Paulo consider visiting Rua Liberdade for the Festival."
