This time of the year, we are all thinking about the months to come, the new year, making plans and creating new projects.

Kathy Cano Murillo, A.K.A Crafty Chica, have gone in the opposite direction. She is teaching her readers (I'm one of them) how to make a Time Capsule for 2006.

I like the idea very much. I'll be doing my time-box as soon as I can. Of course, I'll be taking a cultural approach; I'll include as many items related with my Latin background, culture and lifestyle, as I can. Think what a great gift for the next generations will it be!

The list of items to get you started is inspiring, and the project is so simple (as most of her projects), anyone can do it, and enjoy the process and the result. In fact, the project got me thinking, and I've had an idea.

I'm going to take a box, and use it to store keepsakes during all this year. I'll start writing a letter to myself, about my hopes and projects for 2007. I'll put the letter on the box, and it will be opened next year; when I will go trough the memories of the year, in order to make a new time-capsule.

I don't know how far can I take this (how many time-boxes can a person store?), but I'll certainly be doing it this year. Maybe I'll make scrapbooks instead of boxes, in the future. Who knows.

Anyway, check out her project, I'm sure you'll like it. And, if you haven't heard of her blog, take your time and look around. She have many, many ideas for the crafty chica - and for those who aren't that crafty, too.

Remember: handcrafting is therapeutic and a good way to relief stress. Not to mention the satisfaction you get, when you see a beautiful object that was born from your bare hands!
