According to official exit polling numbers, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will succeed Nestor Kirchner, her husband, in the Argentinian presidential chair. Fernández is the first female president elected in Argentina. Cristina received near 45% of the votes.
"We've won by a large margin, maybe by the largest margin between the first force and the second, since democracy was reinstated" in 1983, said Fernández.
"This advantage, instead of putting us in a privileged position, gives us more responsibility and obligations, because of the trust the Argentinian people have laid on us." she said. "We know it's necessary to make bigger changes, and for that we need to gather the majority of the Argentinian people. I want to gather everybody, without resentment, without hate."
Cristina Kirchner is all about the people... She has even been called "the new Evita". But one thing that bothers me, is that her Presidential Campaign
was supported by Hugo Chávez, no less.
