Internet cafes are everywhere. I honestly planned on getting a multifon card as soon as I arrived in mexico City, but I changed my mind.
First of all, working on the computer at home is great. And theft has increased so much that regular advisories and notices are printed in local papers as to how one should react in case of a hold up. The advise? Give the thieves what they want... most carry guns and most are happy to use them.
So, no, I don't feel safe walking around town with my Mac Pro to local cafés with hotspots.
But like I said, cybercafés abound, so I just tap away at home, toss files onto my jump drive, and walk about 3 blocks to the nearest "Café Internet."
