Donating Blood

While in Mexico my husband and I went to donate blood. I wasn't allowed to give because of recent acupuncture treatments.
Today, while surfing around on the net for other things, I ended up at the American Red Cross's site and found that here in the states acupuncture is no problem.
After a bit more browsing, I'm finding differences in donor requirements from one country to the next. The basics are still the same, but a few things like childhood Hepatitis or tattoos differ. It's a little scary, actually.
