Hispanic Business Magazine is partnering with Dress for Success (nonprofit organization) for a blouse and handbag drive at the Hispanic Business Woman of the Year event. WOY will take place on April 26th, at the Caesars palace in Las Vegas.

Dress for Success is an international nonprofit organization, which provides interview suits and career development services to disadvantaged women who are going through the transition into the workforce.

Attendees of the fifth annual Woman of the Year event, which celebrates the accomplishments of successful U.S. Hispanic women, are asked to bring new or gently used blouses and business bags. The donations at the 2007 WOY will go directly to the Los Angeles chapter of Dress for Success, courtesy of Verizon.

Donated blouses and business bags can be dropped off at the Dress for Success collection site at Caesars Palace – near the registration table for the Woman of the Year daytime symposium.

"When I discovered Dress for Success, I immediately thought that the women attending Woman of the Year would be a great resource to tap," said Hispanic Business Events Manager Julie Caligiuri. "It's a match made in heaven."

Dress For Success Worldwide CEO Joi Gordon agrees. "By donating blouses and bags, these successful ladies enable another woman to attend a job interview with confidence and take the first step towards economic independence. We are delighted that Hispanic Business has involved Dress for Success in the WOY," she said.

Dress for Success is a remarkable project. Their mission is "to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."

They not only provide suits to women, but also offer employment retention programs, which are the cornerstones of the organization. They recognize that finding a job is only one step in a woman's journey towards economic independence; remaining employed and building a rewarding career are equally important.

To help women both find and keep jobs, they've established the Professional Women's Group program (PWG), which provides ongoing support to enable women to successfully transition into the workforce, build thriving careers and prosper in the mainstream workplace. Once a woman joins PWG, she is a member for life; she's able to attend meetings at any affiliate throughout the world; and she also can benefit from additional employment retention and mentoring programs.

Dress for Success also has developed Career Center, an initiative that promotes confidence and professionalism by offering women career guidance, the chance to acquire technology skills and assistance in their job searches.

Isn't it great? We all know somebody who could benefit from such a wonderful program. Let's spread the word about it; maybe we even can help them. Click here for information on five ways you can support Dress for Success, and make a lasting difference in a woman's life.
