How to Keep an Even Tan

Tanning Season. The warm weather is here (although still kind of on and off), and so is the tanning season. Personally, I like to protect my skin and at the same time get a nice even color. For that I usually use SPF 45. It slows the tanning process down, so I don't fry some parts and barely tan others. The frying not only taunts skin cancer, it makes me peel and that leaves a funky calico tan I'd rather not have.
While hunting around for other good ways to keep the tanning process under control, I found a response on Yahoo España from someone that uses skin lightening cream on the parts of her body that tend to darken faster than the rest. So instead of hiding face and limbs from the sun, she just lightens them until she looks even.
Where to look for skin lightening products? You can get skin lightening products over the counter, but it's probably a good plan to talk to a dermatologist first. Several sites mention that some darkened areas can indicate a problem, so a doctor should look at them before you go and erase them.
And be careful what you buy. Apparently some stuff out there has mercury and other harmful products. Another good reason to talk to a doc. Take the jar with you and get a green light.
If you've read my other blog postings, you know I like home remedies. So of course, after reading about mercury poisoning and people burning their face with whitening toothpaste and household bleach, I went on a mission to find milder solutions. Here's some of what I found.
