In The Dark - Sad Poetry

You once told me
Things would be easy...
You lied.
I'm strong, you see
But the world is wrong:
Nobody cares.
And I'm lonely
Among millions of faces
Lonely like me.
There's so much hate
In the eyes of others,
In our eyes.
White, black, brown, yellow.
Colors, races, heritages;
Prejudice, separation, fear.
We all drifted apart.
And we don't know why,
We don't ask anymore.
In the dark I wait, silently,
For the day when the change
Will come with the dawn;
In the dark I dream, quietly,
About a different world,
Another lifetime.
In the dark I crave, eagerly,
For kindness and justice,
For forgiveness and peace.
In the dark I remain, still,
There's no answer yet.
