Most Press releases are stupid, but from time to time they can teach you things. I didn't know there was a History Channel en Español.
Kate del Castillo Tells 'La Historia' In New Role on The History Channel En Español
Mexican actor (sic) Kate del Castillo takes on a new role this fall as spokesperson for The History Channel en Español. During the network's Fall Programming Initiative, the multi-talented television and film star will add the position of host to her repertoire, taking viewers on a journey through the rich history of the Latino experience.
From mid-September through mid-October, del Castillo joins the network in a special tribute, highlighting Latin american history and some of its best known protagonists, featured in seven remarkable and diverse documentary films to the Spanish-speaking television audience.
I couldn't find anything about who are the "best known protagonists". I also don't understand what "the rich history of the Latino experience" means, or what it has to do with Latin American history. You know, I'm dumb. :)
Let's hope The History Channel does it's homework and presents a decent series of shows, instead of trying to sell the same old crappy stereotyped vision of Latin America you see everywhere.
And here's another one I don't understand: over here, in Uruguay (a country that, as far as I know, is in Latin America and speaks español) we don't have The History Channel en Español. We have The History Channel, with Spanish audio.
Some day I'll write about how annoying is to watch TV when you can hear two audios at the same time - the original in English and the dubs in Spanish. Why the heck do they do that? If you're going to broadcast a dubbed audio, shouldn't you get rid of the original one? I guess Logic is something that's underrated this days.
