Latin Culture

I just saw this in the Univisión site, about jessica alba:
She's not ashamed of being Hispanic (Spanish)
"Everything was a rumor" were the words from Alba, (..) "if there is something that I would never be ashamed of, are my Latin roots". The actress is proud of having Mexican blood running through her veins.
Is that so? She also said that Perez Hilton likes to lie about her, and went on about how she's proud of being Latina. I don't know about neither of those things, but I do know this: what Hilton published in his blog, can be found - published prior to his post - in many, many sites. I know it because I researched when I first wrote about Jessica Alba - Ashamed of Her Latin Ancesters?
It seems like she's trying to make some damage management. How nice.

I'm not sure if you've read the post. Alba is being criticized for the racist and offensive things she said about Latinos, NOT for saying she's American. She has every right to identify herself as whatever she feel is right; but she doesn't have the right to offend Latinos. And she did say those things.
Besides, I don't understand why you wrote this lecture about "culture of success", as if none of things happened to Americans.

If you want to become successful, you have to embrace the culture of success. Jessica's grandfather understood that, but too many of today's Latinos do not.
That's why they are mired in poverty. You have to PLAN you families. You cannot have children when you are in your teens or early twenties. You have children in your 30s after you are educated and have some savings.
You don't live at home until you get married. When that happens, you don't individuate and you remain a grown child.
You don't think that everything comes down to FATE. That's passive thinking.
Competition is GOOD. It's OK to want to be NUMBER ONE. It's OK to want to be RICH. You won't go to hell.
Oh yeah, and getting a job in social services to "help the community" will not help the community. Majoring in business and starting a company that employs people will help the community.
You must talk about your feelings. Keeping things to yourself causes overeating and alcoholism. When you can't tolerate your feelings, you will try to numb yourself. I see lots of Latinos stuffing their little kids with fast food and candy. Those kids are not only being taught poor nutrition, but also how to stuff their feelings. That leads to obesity and alcoholism. And alcoholism leads to violence.
Truthfully, I think the Catholic Church hold you guys back. They keep you followers. You need your own churches run by your own people. The Catholic Church is a European institution, and you guys will never have any power in it.
Honestly, who the hell are you to criticize Jessica for calling herself an American?! She has a great career, she doesn't embarass herself partying, and she seems to lead a good life. So what if she wants to cut loose.
The people criticizing her are the ones with the problems, not Jessica.
