Juan Pablo Makes the Chase!
Juan Pablo Montoya became the first non-American to make NASCAR's Chase, the 10-race "playoff" where the racing series' top 12 drivers compete for the Cup Championship.
Juan Pablo is now in a four-way tie for ninth place in the twelve-driver championship race. He is one of four drivers who didn't enter the chase with any bonus points (gained from winning a race). The other three drivers in the tie are Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, and Greg Biffle.
The ten-race championship Chase starts Sunday in Louden, New Hampshire.
Montoya won the International F3000 championship in 1998, and the CART Championship Series in 1999. He made the switch to NASCAR in 2007.
