The Latin Oscar nominees are very happy with their nominations - and millions of Latinos are happy for them.
Here's what the nominees are saying:
Guillermo del Toro: "I'm going to celebrate with my wife, Alejandro González Iñárritu and his wife tonight; we're going out for dinner."
Asked if he thought the movie would get so many nominations, he says:
"No, not in my wildest fantasies. It was beautiful, because I hoped I would hear "Pan's Labyrinth
" in maybe one or two categories; in fact, when I was told about the nominations for Best Foreign Movie and Best Original Screenplay, I was completely satisfied."
Adriana Barraza: "My grandson can tell everybody he has a nominee grandmother. Now I hope to win, but nobody can take from me the joy of my grandson having a nominee grandmother."
Guillermo Arriaga: "I was overwhelmed with great happiness, a great joy. I'm very, very happy; and of course, what I want from this nomination is people going to see the movie and reflect upon this issues."
Alejandro González Iñárritu: " Just by being nominated, we've already won. I couldn't sleep since last night, and I got the news at home, with my wife, 5 A.M. in the morning."
Gustavo Santaolalla: " What makes me more happy is Latinos being so well represented this year. The more, the better. The amount of Latin work is impressive."
