6 Things You Should Know About Me:

Thing Nº 1 - I'm a fanatic fan of The Lord of The Rings. In my opinion, these three movies are the most beautiful, exciting and enchanting movies ever made. I've watched each one at least 5 times (and I've read the book 3 times). It's amazing how Peter Jackson and his crew managed to tell this complex, long story, without letting out anything critical or vital. Almost everything is there.

I love LOTR so much, that my husband gave me the One ring - of course, it's a copy, but I enjoy saying "I have the One ring", LOL. He also gave me an especial Collectors Edition of the book, in Portuguese. It's a limited edition, numbered, with hard cover and gold edge pages . These are two of the best birthdays gifts I've ever got.

We also have the Platinum Edition DVD and the OST of the trilogy, plus the "Creating The Lord of The Rings Symphony: a composer's Journey Trough Middle-Earth" DVD. Fanatic, I've said.

Thing Nº 2 - I have a "thing" for words. I fall in love with them. I'm fascinated by their music, and how different languages express the same things. My love for words goes way back. My parents taught me to read Portuguese, by my request, when I was 3 years old. I swear!

My first language is Portuguese; I was born in Uruguay, but I grew up in Brazil. As strange as this sounds, I don't really know how I've learned Spanish. Nobody ever taught me Spanish, and I've never studied it either. My mom and dad always spoke Portuguese. Even so, when we moved back to Uruguay (I was 12 years old), I found out I could speak Spanish almost perfectly.

English was a different story. When I was something like 5 years old, I asked my polyglot father to teach me. He did, and he taught me so well, I didn't need the English Lessons on school. So, when I got married, I had a pretty good knowledge of the language. I was familiarized with the structure and common vocabulary; basic stuff you learn in every school on Brazil.

From there, I began flying solo. I can say cable TV was my teacher. It took me about three years of TV series and movies, and I was able to express myself in English. Then I went to the Internet, where I've learnt proper grammar and spelling. Right now my English is not perfect, but I'm proud of my accomplishment.

Thing Nº 3 - I hate stupidity, prejudice, discrimination, vulgarity (although profanity doesn't bother me), gruesome humor, politics, celebrity gossip, most of reality shows, belic and drama movies, olives and sea food.
