INTERPOL is awesome.
I mean the International Police, not the New York Post-punk
rock band-although they're pretty cool, too.The organization runs a global police communications system (I-24/7) that provides police around the world with a common platform they can use to share information about criminals and criminality.
With it, police worldwide have access to data on criminals like names, fingerprints and DNA profiles, and stolen property such as passports, vehicles and works of art.
The goal is to help member countries fight serious trans-national crime and terrorism.
There's been an INTERPOL branch (USNCB) in the US since 1969.
Mexico has been a member since 1954.
And now Mexico will finally be linking its database to INTERPOL, and sharing information with member nations electronically.
I'm hopeful and excited about this change.
