Well, here's a cool find I'd like to share: Health Food Slide Show.
It's tiny, I know. But a it's a start. I would love to get a list going of all the brands from Latin America that lean toward the "healthy," like seasoning packages without MSG and the like.
I mention MSG because it's in a popular flavor enhancer used in products common in every day cooking, like powdered chicken bouillon.
MSG is controversial. Some say it's dangerous, others that it's harmless. But it is for certain related to weight gain (path to a list of illness I don't want), so maybe I'll just avoid it and let the debate rage on without me.
How does MSG make you fat?
"Like aspartame, MSG is an excitotoxin, a substance that overexcites neurons to the point of cell damage and, eventually, cell death...MSG creates a lesion in the hypothalamus that correlates with abnormal development, including obesity, short stature and sexual reproduction problems." - Natural News.com
I'm checking my labels.
