Here's another one for the list of "Things I don't get":Paula DeAnda to perform on Second Life.
I mean, I understand why Paula is giving an "Exclusive virtual Concert and Live Chat" on Second Life; taking advantage of Second Life's popularity is a very creative marketing strategy; it also gives a chance to fans to "go" to her concert and interact with their idol, no matter where they are. And that's nice, I guess.
What I don't get is the whole Second Life concept. I think if you enjoy or feel the need for a fake life, you should be seeing a therapist. People take this game too seriously, and things are already out of control. Take a look at this news reports:
Virtual Rape in Second Life
Second Life Girl Takes Spot in Maxim Hot 100 List
The "Virtual Rape" case was even investigated by the police!! C'mon, people, get serious! Anyway, what can you expect to happen in a "3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 6,464,588 people from around the globe."
Over 6.5 millions of people with the liberty to do just about anything they feel like, since there are no controlling entity or whatsoever. The result is some people use it to get closer to their fans, like Paula, and some people use it to virtually rape avatars. Now I'm wondering if the KKK and the skinheads are over there. What do you think?
Anyway, if you want to be in paula deanda's virtual concert and chat with her, check the Directions for joining Second Life & Paula's Live Chat and Performance.
