Please Help Peruvian Earthquake Victims!

Earthquake Ruins in Pisco, Peru

One of my favorites Latin blogs, The Latin Americanist has published a post asking for support for those affected by last week's tremors in Peru. I'm echoing his call, republishing here his list of ways of providing assistance to Peruvians:

1 - Several Peruvian Consulates in the U.S. have appealed for aid to quake victims. For instance, the Consulate in Miami has issued a comprehensive list of items for donation including clothes, medical equipment, batteries, coats, and medicine. Other consulates in areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago , and Atlanta have their own suggestions on how to help and that information can be accessed here.

2 - A special bank account has been established for direct deposit donations for the recovery effort: "hsbc bank, USA

3 - Lastly, several well-known international charities have also set up donation funds including the American Red Cross, Oxfam America, and CARE. (More charities donating to rescue efforts can be seen via the Charity Navigator site.)

Any little bit helps so please give what you can and donate!

If you can't donate, consider spreading the word; write about this in your blog, post the list in the forums that you're a member of, anything you can think of will do, to help the call for support reaching more people.
