You're on the road again, headed for the beach or to visit relatives, or maybe looking for adventure. And then you have to stop for the fourth time to pee, eat, and wake up. At least this used to happen to me an awful lot.
Reason? The coke, junk food, and climate control.
Anything that has caffeine will make you go to the bathroom twice as often. Drinking cold water gives your metabolism a jolt and does a better job of waking you up... and no jitters later.
The AC and the heater dehydrate you. I used to solve that by drinking more coke, bu then, of course, I had to pee again. So to break free of the vicious circle, I just replaced sodas with water, herbal teas, and fruit juice.
As for sleepy foods, I had to give up the drive through. The fat content is deliciously high, but made me useless afterwards. So fruits, cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, or baked potato chips work better. Though not all fruits will wake you up. Check out the sleepy foods link later.
Depending on how long we'll be on the road, I like to stop and have a sit-down meal. If I'm not driving, all best are off. But if I'm driving, I make sure to have snacks before hand so that my restaurant meal is small, and I try to stick to energizing foods.
It's road trip time, so jump in with your ideas for good road grub.
