Shakira Will Take a Break After More Than 40 Countries and 100 Concerts

Shakira has been in about 40 countries during last year, with the "Oral Fixation" tour. She wants to take a break to rest, once the tour is finished, on May 30th, in Mexico. I think she deserves it, after so much work and dedication to her fans, don't you think?

"I'm not planning to ran back to the studio after the last concert. I want to rest a lot, to read, watch movies, to listen to music other than mine, go back to having a normal life", she said in an interview published today in "Reforma", a Mexican newspaper.

The Colombian singer offered, during this tour, more than a hundred concerts, and took her hips across Europe and the Middle East, and went as far as Dubai and Egypt. However, in the interview (via email), she affirmed that in Mexico the emotions are "stronger"; reason why she will take a break during the next days, before moving forward with the tour.

"I am taking two weeks off, to be able to enter Mexico with all my soul and to live this experience with all the intensity that Mexico offers", she said. She also said that Mexico is a country of "intense concerts, full of emotions. Everything in Mexico is stronger. Here's where it wanted to finish my tour, to take with me the last memory of this fase's ending", she affirmed.

Shakira will begin her Mexican tour on May 9th, in Culiacán; and will close it on May 30th in Monterrey, after offering concerts in Aguas Calientes and Mexico City.

The concerts, she says, are the place where she can measure her success. "The process of making an album is something relatively solitary. That process is not fulfilled until you have the opportunity to sing in front of your fans as an artist, and receive their answer."

"Then is when you truly understand the feeling of the word success, and it becomes a reality, opposed to the numbers you can see in a paper," Shakira said. She doesn't know yet when she'll release her next album, nor if it will be an English or Spanish album. She doesn't dismiss entirely the possibility of acting, sometime in the future; although she says that she pictures herself more like a producer than like an actress.

In her personal life, her six-years long relationship with Antonio de la Rúa (Argentinian ex-president Fernando de La Rúa's son) is doing very well, thank you very much.

"I think a lot about having a family with Antonio, that would make me very happy. To being able to dedicate more time to the children in my foundation will also make me happy. That's another of my goals for when the tour is finished."
