The 50 Most Beautiful Latinos List... What Is Beyoncé Doing There?
Filed in archive Latin Culture , Latin News , Latin Television on May 2, 2007
People En Español has announced the 50 Latin/Hispanic celebrities that made into their "Los 50 Más Bellos" list. But, wait: the 2007 list of the most beautiful Latin People has 51 names... 50 Latinos, and Beyoncé. What??
"We decided to make her an honorary beauty, since she has already gained the title; her new album features six songs in Spanish, and she sings a duet with Alejandro Fernández every night, during the opening of Telemundo's novela "Zorro: la espada y la rosa" (Zorro: the sword and the rose), said the magazine's editor, Peter Castro.
Beyoncé is in the cover, of course. I'm pretty pissed off. Just because half a dozen songs in Spanish - which, as the collaboration with Shakira, are nothing more than a desperate attempt to regain popularity and make more money - she has become Latina, all of the sudden?
We don't need Beyoncé. "Los 50 Más Bellos" list doesn't need her. She has absolutely nothing to do in there. This "honorary beauty" is a non-sense; they've probably came up with that lame excuse just to sell more copies of the magazine.
Anyway, here are some others famous names from the list - the true Latinos and Latinas, who truly deserve to be there:
Alejandro Fernández: Mexican singer (I like him very much)
Alfonso Herrera: Mexican actor and singer, RBD's member
América Ferrera: Actress, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Ana Ortiz: Actress, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Angélica Vale: Mexican actress, La fea más bella (Univisión)
Anthony Santos: Dominican singer, Grupo aventura
Carlos Ponce: Puerto Rican actor, Dame chocolate (Telemundo)
Chayanne: Puerto Rican singer (sexy, sexy, sexy)
Dulce MarÃa: Mexican actress and singer, RBD's member
Jaime Camil: Mexican actor, La fea más bella (Univisión)
Jennifer López: You know her, don't you? :)
Julieta Venegas: Mexican singer
Penélope Cruz: Spanish actress with a Latin flavor, Volver
Ricky Martin: Puerto Rican singer (I like Chayanne better)
Rodrigo Santoro: Brazilian actor, Lost (ABC), 300 (I don't like him, but...)
Salma Hayek: Actress and producer, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Santiago Cabrera: Chilean actor, Heroes (NBC)
Sara RamÃrez: Mexican actress, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
Sergio Mayer: Mexican actor, La fea más bella (Univisión)
ThalÃa: Mexican singer and actress
Zuleyka Rivera: Miss Universe 2006

Beyonce shouldn't be in the cover because the cover is about the 50 most beautiful LATINOS... and she's not Latina.
Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles are some fine latinas!
I, myself am mixed with French, German, Italian, Pilipino, Indian, and Puerto Rican. My mother was born in Mexico, but our bloodline tells a whole different story. Still when I say I'm not Mexican I hear the same BS. I always say I am Latino because that word represents all Latinos of all color and culture.
I am not ashamed and I am not confused either, I just feel LATINO is a better fit for me.
I think Beyonce is simply just expressing herself to let everyone know she is who she is and proud of it. French is of Latin origin, like it or not.
Look at the DeBarge family, they are considered black because that's how the media made them appear, but they are Puerto Rican (Latino Heritage Background), it's just the way it is. The only reason why such claims are being made is because it is assumed that ALL Puerto Ricans are black.
Back in the days way before our time, there were allot of runaway slaves that went to South America, were accepted, mixed races were born in those areas as well as here in North America and other parts of the world. And yes it was scientifically proven that we all have DNA of African descent because YES, it is where it all began.
You know, I may be the first Latino to ever admit that, loll.
Anyways, she is who she is and people should just let her be, she is beautiful in every way and in my opinion, she is of the HUMAN RACE.
Love, peace, and happiness... Jose.
