The 50 Most Beautiful Latinos List… What Is Beyoncé Doing There?

The 50 Most Beautiful Latinos List... What Is Beyoncé Doing There?

People En Español has announced the 50 Latin/Hispanic celebrities that made into their "Los 50 Más Bellos" list. But, wait: the 2007 list of the most beautiful Latin People has 51 names… 50 Latinos, and Beyoncé. What??

"We decided to make her an honorary beauty, since she has already gained the title; her new album features six songs in Spanish, and she sings a duet with Alejandro Fernández every night, during the opening of Telemundo's novela "Zorro: la espada y la rosa" (Zorro: the sword and the rose), said the magazine's editor, Peter Castro.

Beyoncé is in the cover, of course. I'm pretty pissed off. Just because half a dozen songs in Spanish – which, as the collaboration with Shakira, are nothing more than a desperate attempt to regain popularity and make more money – she has become Latina, all of the sudden?

We don't need Beyoncé. "Los 50 Más Bellos" list doesn't need her. She has absolutely nothing to do in there. This "honorary beauty" is a non-sense; they've probably came up with that lame excuse just to sell more copies of the magazine.

Anyway, here are some others famous names from the list – the true Latinos and Latinas, who truly deserve to be there:

Alejandro Fernández:
Mexican singer (I like him very much)
Alfonso Herrera: Mexican actor and singer, RBD's member
América Ferrera: Actress, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Ana Ortiz: Actress, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Angélica Vale: Mexican actress, La fea más bella (Univisión)
Anthony Santos: Dominican singer, Grupo aventura
Carlos Ponce: Puerto Rican actor, Dame chocolate (Telemundo)
Chayanne: Puerto Rican singer (sexy, sexy, sexy)
Dulce María: Mexican actress and singer, RBD's member
Jaime Camil: Mexican actor, La fea más bella (Univisión)
Jennifer López: You know her, don't you? :)
Julieta Venegas: Mexican singer
Penélope Cruz: Spanish actress with a Latin flavor, Volver
Ricky Martin: Puerto Rican singer (I like Chayanne better)
Rodrigo Santoro: Brazilian actor, Lost (ABC), 300 (I don't like him, but…)
Salma Hayek: Actress and producer, Ugly Betty (ABC)
Santiago Cabrera: Chilean actor, Heroes (NBC)
Sara Ramírez: Mexican actress, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
Sergio Mayer: Mexican actor, La fea más bella (Univisión)
Thalía: Mexican singer and actress
Zuleyka Rivera: Miss Universe 2006

Did I mentioned I'm pissed off?

Alejandro Fernandez #1? Hmmm—Hay otros más guapos y varoniles que él. Está fuera de base esta lista :(

  2. Eliane Says:

I don’t know if Alejandro is #1. I think the list is in alphabetical order. Pero, si él salió primero, tenés razón! Chayanne me gusta mucho más! ;)

Well, I’m glad that Beyonce is on the cover! She has every right to be on the cover. What does it matter that she’s on the cover anyway? It never matters if Selma Hayek or Penelope Cruz or Mario Lopez or J.Lo are on the cover of People or OK! or any other magazine in America! in English or en Espanol! Get over it! This is how the world is now! Beyonce is sexy, beautiful, intelligent, extremely talented, and is surrounded by many fans of all cultures and ethnicity (especially the Latinos). That’s all I wanted to say!

  4. Eliane Says:

Sharleen, you’re missing the point. It has nothing to do with the magazine being in Spanish or not.

Beyonce shouldn’t be in the cover because the cover is about the 50 most beautiful LATINOS… and she’s not Latina.

  5. jumoix Says:

Well, technically if you put all the pieces together correctly should can be classified as Latina…Beyonce is Louisiana creole, and as we all know, Louisiana creole is a mixture of latino, french, black, indian. Theredfore, technically she is Latina..However the classification of who’s latino/hispanic and whose not is double standard anyone..it’s so loosel based…I love me some Latina’s!!
Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles are some fine latinas!

  6. Oneya Says:

a latino woman, was ranked most the beautiful black woman, in an a black very well know men’s magazine, King’s. imagine that.

  7. oyhheeaaa Says:

wow.. beyonce’s blck not creole matter of fact only one of her mother’s parent is……..but i juss love salma hayek!!!! shes so pretty!!!

  8. Jose Says:

In my opinion, she is who she is. The fact that she does have French and Indian, well that would make her part Latina and Part everything else regardless of what everyone else wants to call her.

I, myself am mixed with French, German, Italian, Pilipino, Indian, and Puerto Rican. My mother was born in Mexico, but our bloodline tells a whole different story. Still when I say I’m not Mexican I hear the same BS. I always say I am Latino because that word represents all Latinos of all color and culture.

I am not ashamed and I am not confused either, I just feel LATINO is a better fit for me.

I think Beyonce is simply just expressing herself to let everyone know she is who she is and proud of it. French is of Latin origin, like it or not.

Look at the DeBarge family, they are considered black because that’s how the media made them appear, but they are Puerto Rican (Latino Heritage Background), it’s just the way it is. The only reason why such claims are being made is because it is assumed that ALL Puerto Ricans are black.

Back in the days way before our time, there were allot of runaway slaves that went to South America, were accepted, mixed races were born in those areas as well as here in North America and other parts of the world. And yes it was scientifically proven that we all have DNA of African descent because YES, it is where it all began.

You know, I may be the first Latino to ever admit that, loll.

Anyways, she is who she is and people should just let her be, she is beautiful in every way and in my opinion, she is of the HUMAN RACE.

    Love, peace, and happiness… Jose.

  9. Miguel Says:

She is Latina because Spanish-Cerole is apart of the Latin (orgin) and face it she’s Latina thanks to her mother Tina Knowles… Yes! Beyoncé is mixed and very beautiful she’s mixed with Spanish-Creole (crillo) and African-American. and I’m a big fan of Beyoncé Knowles and that’s why she made #1 on the Latina Magazine. She speaks Creole, English, & Spanish thanks to Mrs. Tina Knowles. Thanks and Yes Beyoncé is mixed her C reole grandparents gave her that unique name Beyoncé. She’s Mixed!!!

  10. mel Says:

What is Beyonce doing there< I don’t know. I never see an hispanics/latinas in Jet or Ebony.

  11. Carlos Manuel Chapa Says:

She’s what she want to be. To me, she’s also Latina, but in this country she’s also Black because here even if you have 10% Black, you are Black, not matter how light-skin you are. Besides, if she denies she’s black, she will be seen negatively. So Beyonce eres una negrita muy linda (a dear beautiful Black woman).

  12. stella Says:

What does it matter if beyonce is on the cover or not? What is wrong with you people? There are all sorts of magazines printed and circulated in america every day. There is never any objection as to who is on the cover or whether they belong there or not. I think it is very petty and narrow minded to pass remarks about beyonce being on the cover of a latino magazine. It does not matter whether she is mixed or not. You all in american need to let that go now we are in the 21st century. I think america has a history of racial intolerance that goes back more than 400 hundred years, and is shameful and disgusting, isn’t it time to change?

  13. shand Says:

I love latinas and I have a latina girlfriend too, she works with a ton of really hot latina models online and In the clubs
