Cleaning can be really painful; for most people, is just Boring. But it doesn't have to be that way. Would you like to have some fun while you're in your "domestic obligations"? Is that even possible?

Yes it is, and it's pretty simple. All you need is: a little planning... and music. Here's what you have to do:

1 - Think

Ask yourself: "Which kind of music makes me wanna dance?" You should come up with songs and styles that make your body shake - even if you're sitting. Obviously, it has to be something that you enjoy. Write down your answers.

2 - Calculate

Calculate the average amount of time that you spend cleaning. I, for example, spend approximately an hour and a half every day.

3 - Browse

Take some time to browse through your music collection - Cd's, mp3, etc. Select songs that match the criteria you've established in the first step. Keep in mind your average cleaning time; your musical selection should cover it, and give you some extra time. In my case, my play list is almost two hours long.

4 - Organize

Once you have your selection, organize it to suit your needs. If you struggle with starting the cleaning, the most powerful songs should be first. If you begin to clean with enthusiasm, but later get tired or lost, keep the stronger songs to that moment.

5 - Get Ready

Now is time to implement your system. That means to have it ready for your next "cleaning time". If you're using mp3, make a play list in your mp3 player. You can play it from the PC or burn an mp3 CD. If your selection is scattered through your music Cd's, make a compiled CD (or as many as you need). It takes some time and a little effort, but it's worth it.

And that's it! The next time you're about to start your cleaning, pop your selection and go for it. In my case, a little loud works the best.

Why that works? Because, if you choose the right songs, listening to them will boost your energy levels, and therefor, your mood. Domestic chores become easier, when you are in the "dancing mode", because you feel the need of movement, instead of laziness.

And, above all, it's fun! So, don't be ashamed! Maybe you look a little silly, dancing with the broom and singing out loud... who cares? As long as that means I can be happy while cleaning around the house, I certainly don't!
