The Hollywood Reporter has presented their first Latino Power 50 list, "a guide to those writers, producers, directors, actors and executives who, through their ideas, perspectives and experiences, are changing show business as we know it."

The Hollywood Reporter explains the criteria: they've focused only on behind-the-scenes players, working in English, in the film and TV industries. Those who work within the Spanish-speaking world, or in the music industry, were left out of the list. They considered:

- What their work has done to raise the profile of Latinos in Hollywood, whether their projects are Hispanic-themed or not
- What a candidate has achieved in the past 12 months (including the box office performance and awards potential of projects on which he or she has worked)
- A candidate's track record and overall standing in the entertainment industry
- Each candidate's position within his or her company
- Force of personality: how much impact a candidate has in his or her corner of the industry

The Hollywood Reporter Top 10 Powerful Latinos:

1 - Alfonso Cuarón, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Guillermo del Toro (writer-director-producers)
2 - Nina Tassler (president, CBS Entertainment)
3 - Robert Rodriguez (writer-director)
4 - Salma Hayek (actress-producer)
5 - Armando Nuñez Jr. (president, CBS Paramount International Television)
6 - Belinda Menendez (president, NBC Universal International Television Distribution)
7 - Santiago Pozo (CEO, Arenas Entertainment)
8 - Emanuel Nuñez (agent, Creative Artists Agency)
9 - Jeff Valdez (founder of SíTV and co-chairman of Maya Entertainment)
10 - Jennifer Lopez (actress-singer-producer)

There are other famous names in the list, as George Lopez (13), Gustavo Santaolalla (30) and Eva Longoria (31). They've break the rule of no Spanish-speaking only nominees for Pedro Almodóvar (50), because "If anyone can qualify as the ambassador of Spanish cinema, it's Almodóvar." Funny, and true.

You can find the full list, along with a brief background of each nominee, at The Hollywood Reporter - Latino Power 50.
