The Quiet Sunset of Cabo Polonio
Filed in archive Latin Travel by Eliane on November 27, 2006

Watching the sunset on Cabo Polonio was one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had. It's so quiet and still.
Cabo Polonio is a preserved area; vehicles are not allowed to enter, except for the open trucks that bring visitors from the road, and occasionally a 4x4 pick-up. There, you're in another world, completely unplugged: no radio, TV, cell phone, bus, or any noise of modern life.
When we first arrived, it was a bit hard to adapt ourselves to the slower rhythm of the place. It was awkward not having to worry about obligations or schedules; but what was really odd, was the fact we weren't suppose to do anything. There wasn't a "must do this" nor "should go there".
We sat at the hotel's porch, in front of the beach, and took us a while to stop being nervous because we're doing nothing. Later, we realized that's what makes the Cabo a truly unique destination.
When you're there, there's no pressure of any kind. You have time to just be, without anything to disturb you. There you discover what "peaceful" really means. You aren't obligated to do anything, if you don't feel like doing it. You decide what to do, and when. And you can do what we did: nothing! For as long as you like.
If you want to wash off all the stress you've been accumulating, Cabo Polonio is a very good choice. I'll be telling you more about it in the next days. Vuelve pronto!
