TV Networks Want To Captivate More Latino Viewers

Latinos are becoming an object of desire, whether we're talking about voters, costumers or viewers. Everybody seems to be interested in the Latin crowd these days, from president wannabes to TV networks.
NBC is trying to attract Latinos, and it's turning to Telemundo for help:
Cognizant of the swelling Latino population, NBC has been scrambling to populate its prime-time shows with more Latino faces, hoping to win over more viewers from that demographic. "Heroes," one of the network's tent-pole series, added two new Spanish-speaking characters this fall. For next season, NBC is developing an English-language version of the popular Colombian telenovela "Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso."
Captivating more Latino viewers "has got to be a huge priority for all of our networks, and the answer is right in our own back yard," said NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker. "One of the benefits of Telemundo that's not readily apparent is the ability to provide great actors and actresses to all our networks, and you're certainly beginning to see that cross-pollination at work."
Excuse me: Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso?! That's one of the worst telenovela titles ever, and this is a tough contest, chica. Why do they always choose the worst things we have in Latin America, to import it to the U.S.?
Anyway, Telemundo is fighting its own battle, against Nº1 Univisión:
"We're betting the ranch on producing our own content and bringing in the best talent to help create it and act in it," Telemundo president Don Browne says.
Producing novelas and other types of programming, while initially an expensive proposition, allows Telemundo to not only work advertiser products into the shows-an additional revenue source-but to also sell those shows abroad in dozens of Spanish- and non-Spanish-speaking countries.
My question is: are they going to produce good and interesting content, or are they going to just slap some Latinos together, give them a number of stereotypical roles, throw a few Spanish words in their lines and call it the day?
