Tony Plana

Cuban actor Tony Plana, the father of Betty in "Ugly Betty", has said that if the Hollywood writers strike continues, the third season of the series may be suspended.

Plana commented that the last episodes of Ugly Betty's second season are being broadcasted, and the season's finale will be on air on December 6; if the conflict isn't solved, Ugly Betty could end definitively.

He explained the third season is in danger, because "we don't know what the production is going to do, but probably the first season is going to be repeated, to hook more public. I hope this problems get solved soon, because the series has touched several topics of social interest, such as immigration and health", indicated the actor.

"The series has tried to talk about those issues in order to present them under a positive light, but most of all we want to create awareness", said Plana, adding that Ugly Betty will follow these guidelines in the next seasons - if there is any, of course.

"I believe that to talk about health was a good call, because in the U.S. there's a serious problem of obesity, which has affected even the children." commented the actor.
