Univision's Latin Flavored Reality Show - More Of The Same

The Univision Television Network announced today the 12 finalists who will compete in "Nuestra Belleza Latina" (Our Latin Beauty), their new reality show.
The 12 finalists are: from Chicago - Angie Chavéz; from Houston - Elizabeth López, Joanna Parra; from Los Angeles - Alejandra Espinoza, Marlene Alvarez, Mayra Muñoz; from Miami - Martha López, Giselle Saouda; from New York - Raengel Solis, Lorraine Lara; from Puerto Rico - Yara Lasanta, Madelis Soto.
They are supposed to represent the most captivating Hispanic women from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico; of course I don't agree with all the choices. The show's format is the same we've seen in almost every other reality show:
"While living together in a beautiful Miami mansion, the finalists will face a series of weekly challenges that will test their talent and character. Viewers will get an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look as they endeavor to perfect their runway walk, work with stylists and make-up artists, sharpen their dance, singing and acting skills, and undergo a rigorous fitness regimen."
Viewer participation will be a key factor in helping a panel of judges, which includes former Miss Universe, Venezuelan beauty Alicia Machado; Latin American beauty coach Osmel Sousa; and entertainment host of "El Gordo y La Flaca" (The Scoop and The Skinny) Carlos Calderón. In the 2-hour grand finale, the contestant with the most votes will be crowned the very first "Nuestra Belleza Latina."
So, nothing new here; except perhaps for the "Latin flavor" of the contestants. Not a big hit for me.
