Valentine’s Day – The Latin Version

Valentine's Day - The Latin Version

Tomorrow is February 14 – Valentine's Day. Or, in Spanish, el Dia de los Novios/Dia de San Valentin. How about celebrating it with a spicy, sexy typical dinner? It's not that complicated, and I'm sure your "Latin lover" will be amazed.

What would you need?

Time - You'll need time to enjoy this special evening. You'll probably want to have appetizers, main course and dessert. So, no time for hurries.

Food - Cook yourself, or ask your mamá for help. Of course, typical, ethnic food: classic dishes from your country or heritage. Think spicy, romantic, hot. Just stay away from "hard to digest" dishes; you don't want to fall asleep right after dinner, do you? ;)

Need some recipes and ideas? Check with The Cooking Diva! She has a great selection of ethnic food. She even have a Sensual Food section! Isn't that great?

Drinks -
You don't have to limit yourself to wine/champagne. Make it interesting. Which is the traditional drink or beverage from your country? For example: pisco from Chile, tequila (margaritas, maybe?) from Mexico, caipirinha from Brazil. Be creative; if you're Mexican and don't like tequila, go for another Latin drink.

Music - Slow and romantic, or sexy and rhythmic; it's your choice. Anyway, you two should dance. If he's not Latin/Hispanic, teach him some moves and steps. If you're both Latin, but from different backgrounds, share your typical music styles.

Of course, scented candles, a romantic card written in Spanish, maybe a movie – you get the idea. A Valentine's dinner with a Latino theme. And don't forget to have fun!
