It's starting to look more and more like the ban on Americans traveling to Cuba could be lifted sometime soon. Take the statement by a key US lawmaker:
The U.S. government has no right to restrict American tourists from traveling to Cuba, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said Thursday.A petition asking that the travel ban be lifted also reached a milestone recently. It now has 100,000 signatures, according to USA Today.
"It is the only country in the world where our people are not allowed to go," said Rep. Howard Berman, D-California, at the start of a hearing on whether it is time to lift the travel ban.
The issue is still a controversial one, especially in Florida where many ethic Cubans still want to see the Communist government removed from power.
