World Trade Center Movie

Yesterday I saw a few scenes of "World Trade Center", the Oliver Stone's movie about 9/11. I'm planning to watch it soon enough, but I already have a couple of comments.

First, Nicholas Cage. He is one of my favorite actors; I've liked every movie I've seen with him, except for Adaptation. I don't know yet how he did in this one, but I can say right now he looks ridiculous with that mustache. What was he thinking? It looks so fake, I hated it!

Second, it seems the director made a very big deal about the origins of the protagonist characters. The movie is based on the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno, two of the last survivors extracted from Ground Zero and their rescuers.

In the first scene, we see these men in the dressing room, on the Police Department. The director show us the names on the lockers doors, and almost all of them are immigrants: Rodrigues, Pezzulo, Polnicki, Giraldi, and such. It's pretty obvious he wants to be sure the audience is aware they have different backgrounds.

I don't understand what that has to do with anything. Maybe the message is: "Terrorist attacks weren't only against "white people", but against every people", or something like that. If you've been reading this blog, you know I despise that kind of labeling.

Anyway, I'll have to watch the entire movie to find out if I'm right, or not. Have you seen it? What do you think?
